Roundtable Convening on Census 2027 and Disability: Field Readiness

On 10 September 2026, our Founder and Executive Director Nidhi Goyal participated in a roundtable on Census 2027 and Disability, organised by Politics and Disability Forum in collaboration with Keystone Human Services India Association.

Bringing together 30 participants from disability organisations, advocacy groups and other stakeholders, the discussion focused on four key areas: engaging State Directorates of Census Operations; sensitising enumerators to improve disability enumeration; understanding disability across other Census questions, including education, employment, documentation and digital literacy; and ensuring that self-enumeration is accessible and meaningful for persons with disabilities.

The roundtable also explored possibilities for further collaboration and collective action for an effective and inclusive census 2027.
