Government advocacy consultation: implementation of the Concluding Observations of the CRPD Committee

On the 4th of March, 2020, the National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People (NCPEDP) in collaboration with Women with Disabilities India Network and United National Coalition organised a consultation on the concluding observations of the CRPD committee.

The aim of this consultation was to dialogue with the government officials through presentations and follow up conversations and advocate for the concluding remarks made by the CRPD Committee and the practical recommendations made on that basis in the National DPO consultation in Calcutta.

National disability leaders were a part of this consultation and made presentations to officials from the Health Ministry, Ministry of Human Resource Development and so on. our

Founder and executive director, Nidhi Goyal, on behalf of Rising Flame and Women with Disabilities India Network, presented on issues of women and girls with disabilities such as violence and access to justice and gave strong recommendations to address the problems. Presenters also included co-founder, The Banyan, Vaishnavi Jayakumar, Executive Director and Founder Trustee of Advocates for Public Justice Foundation and Director of the Disability Law Initiative, Rajan Mani, executive director of National Association of the Deaf, Anuj Jain and CEO, Swaadhikar, Pavan Muntha among others.
