A Discussion on Gender and Disability; Project Eyeway

 

On the 13th of August, Score Foundation’s Project Eyeway, a one-stop knowledge resource for people with blindness, invited founder and executive director Nidhi Goyal to speak about gender and disability. The webinar was part of Project Eyeway’s weekly series called Eyeway Encounters. Nidhi spoke about the intersection of gender and disability and the marginalisations that comes with the identity of that of a disabled woman drawing from her own journey. She spoke about navigating the world with these labels and how her own experiences as a disabled woman opened her up to the gendered reality of disability. in her session she unpacked the concepts of autonomy and consent, stigma and choices, harassment and violence,  around blindness and gender. In the question and answer session after the webinar, participants shared their own experiences with discrimination and stigma and asked questions around building
