On 18 January 2020, we participated in an advocacy initiative led by Sightsavers and NCPEDP around the disability inclusion in the sustainable development goals . The report authored by the two organisations with inputs from DPOs and civil society organisations across the country (including Rising Flame) was presented to the Niti Ayog and to a team from the United Nations. Our founder and executive director Nidhi Goyal presented findings of Goals 5, 6 and 7 to make a strong case of gender equality for persons with disabilities and inclusion in water and sanitation facilities and plans. Some other advocates who presented were Akhil Paul, Director and Founder of Sense International India, Ketan Kothari, Manager, Advocacy from Sightsavers India, and Ankit Rajive Jindal, Senior Manager at NTT DATA Services. This was an attempt to center disability inclusion in the India SDG report and the civil society report to further create an impact at the High Level Political Forum by the United Nations in New York.
