In October, organised in partnership with Microsoft at IIT Delhi Techno Park in Sonipat, Empower 2019 was an Assistive Technology Conference. It brought together all stakeholders in the assistive technology sector. the three-day conference began on Tuesday and had several sessions over technological solutions for different disabilities.
Our founder, director Nidhi Goyal was part of a panel at Empower 2019 IIT-Delhi along with Meenakshi Balasubramanian, Akila S. , Prateek Madhav. The conversation centered around #AssistiveTechnologies for the Global South and the need to incorporate gender and disability perspectives into design and tech research.
The event also consisted of keynote talks, reviewed and invited papers, posters, user forums, panel discussions as well as an exhibition. The exhibition featured a number of latest Assistive Technology (AT) products with an experience zone for users and others to try out these devices. It was an opportunity for AT researchers/experts from all over India to come together on one platform.
