2026 Training on Gender and Disability by KC College

2026 Training on Gender and Disability by KC College

Our Founder and Executive Director, Nidhi Goyal, conducted a virtual training on gender and disability for the Certificate Course in Gender Studies at KC College, Mumbai, on September 18, 2026. The session was attended by 30 students, and explored the intersections of gender and disability and the diverse forms of marginalisation experienced by disabled women and gender-diverse persons.

Nidhi examined harmful stereotypes including infantilisation, objectification, and perceptions of disabled people as “not normal.” Through videos and reflections, she addressed issues of systemic  barriers and challenged the language of “overcoming disability.” Addressing intersectionality starting from gender and disability, she took  a life cycle approach to showcase the discriminations and abuse faced by persons with disabilities at the margins. The training ended with reflections and steps for individuals and institutions to take for building a safe, accessible and inclusive society.
