On September 8, 2023, our Founder and Executive Director, Nidhi Goyal, conducted a virtual training session on gender and disability for over 40 students enrolled in the Certificate Course in Gender Studies at KC College, Mumbai. The session focused on understanding the intersections between gender and disability, how these shape the lived experiences of women and gender-marginalised people.
Nidhi explored the multiple and overlapping forms of exclusion, discrimination, and violence experienced by persons with disabilities across social, economic, and institutional contexts. She also discussed key issues related to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), barriers to accessing essential services, and the persistent gaps in data and representation. This session encouraged critical reflection and helped participants develop a more nuanced understanding of disability-inclusive gender discourse.
