Our Founder and Executive Director Nidhi Goyal was invited to the 20th edition We Care Film Festival, at the UN House in New Delhi. Nidhi participated in a panel on 15th May, 2025 alongside award-winning filmmakers Tushar Hiranandani (‘Srikant‘), and Ojaswwee Sharma (‘Rabb Di Awaaz‘), moderated by Joyce Poan, UNESCO Programme Specialist and Chief of Education.
Nidhi spoke about the transformative power of stories in shifting attitudes around disability, stating that the more stories one sees disability in, the more understanding and attitudes around it changes. With over 60 film makers, civil society members, government officials and UN members present in the room, Nidhi also called for narratives that reflect the full range of disabled people’s lives – not just struggle, but also love, humour, and joy. She urged the film industry to move from token inclusion to authentic care and representation. The panel was rich with insight and intention, a reminder that real change begins with honest storytelling.
