Women’s rights organisation Nirantar Trust held a tweet-a-thon on 12th August to initiate a dialogue on the theme of “Gaps in Youth Policy and Discourse” while simultaneously celebrating International Youth Day.
Rising Flame participated in this tweetathon under the guidance of Co-Lead Srinidhi Raghavan and brought in a disability justice persepective to questions around drop-out rates in secondary schools wherein issues around youth “leaving” vs being “pushed out” of educational systems were being explored. The importance of overall general physical accessibility in classrooms and schools was highlighted, as well as the specific challenges faced by disabled adolescent girls due to the unavailability of accessible bathrooms.
