Still We Rise

Still We Rise

A textured white background covered in large watercolor-style red, orange, and peach cloud-like washes. At the top center is the Rising Flame logo. Below, colorful text reads: “Presents STILL, WE RISE A celebration of disabled resistance, joy, and imagination.” Thin blue corner lines frame the main text on the left and right sides.

‘Still We Rise’ was a video exhibit showcased by us at ReConference 2025 in Kathmandu, Nepal. The exhibit centered disabled resistance and aimed to challenge dominant narratives that frame disability solely through lenses of tragedy or inspiration. Instead, it highlighted joy, imagination, leadership, and collective power of women and gender-marginalised persons with disabilities.

Through a series of short videos, ‘Still We Rise’ captured moments of challenge, vulnerability, and victory, reflecting the complexity and strength of the lives of disabled people.

Following ReConference, we shared ten of these powerful video stories on social media in December 2025. Each story was shared individually to allow space for deeper engagement and reflection. The videos included a mix of footage from our past events as well as new stories received through an open call earlier in the year.

By extending the exhibit to digital platforms, ‘Still We Rise’ aimed to broaden its reach, honour each storyteller’s voice, and continue conversations around disabled resistance, community, and collective liberation long term and beyond the conference.
