United Nations India and the National Institute of Urban Affairs co-organised the Smart Solutions Challenge and Inclusive Awards 2022 on 1 September 2022. Nidhi Goyal, Founder and Executive Director, moderated its jury panel on on ‘Leveraging Innovation and Technology as Enablers for Inclusion’ with speakers including Parul Agarwala from UN-Habitat (United Nations Human Settlements Programme), Mr. Purushottam Kaushik from World Economic Forum, Prof. Gaurav Raheja from Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, Ms. Shivani Gupta from CBM Christian Blind Mission and Mr. Dilip Ramesh from Thinkerbell Labs.
It was altogether insightful, inspiring, and thought provoking as Digital India and Accessible India were recognised as needing to go hand in hand when we create and build our smart cities and urban spaces. The urgent need is for technology and innovation that is people-centric, community-led, and ethical was also highlighted.
The commitment to leave no one behind while building sustainable and resilient urban futures was once again brought to the fore.
