National Consultation on Rights of Persons with Disabilities

July 2018

The NCPEDP organized a national panel on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016 and gender based violence. Founder Director, Nidhi Goyal spoke alongside other key influencers within the disability sector like Shampa Sengupta, Founder Sruti Disability Rights Centre and Rajiv Rituri of Human Rights Law Network.

The panel discussed the RPD Act 2016 in detail and looked at the provisions made for women with disabilities and gaps that the Act was unable to cover.

Conversations also revolved around gender based violence with a focus on violence against women with disabilities which is often ignored and the need to address these issues with focused strategies.
