Many Lives, Many Experiences: Disability and Intersectionality

Many Lives, Many Experiences: Disability and Intersectionality

Our Founder and Executive Director Nidhi Ashok Goyal spoke at a session titled “Many Lives, Many Experiences: Disability and Intersectionality” at Lady Shri Ram College for Women for the college’s Annual Fest “Parwaaz ‘26”, organised by the REACH–Equal Opportunity Cell on March 17, 2026. The session was attended by 50 students.

Drawing from her own journey and that of the communities she works with, Nidhi unpacked the complexities of the lives of women with disabilities, and the intersection of gender and disability. She spoke about the barriers in education from primary schooling to higher education that follow them.

Nidhi also emphasised the importance of providing opportunities for leadership and capacity-building for women with disabilities, advocating for themselves, and leading change within their communities. She also highlighted the critical role of mentorship and peer networks. The session concluded with an engaging Q&A, where Nidhi responded to thoughtful questions from both disabled and non-disabled students.
