Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry’s Diversity and Inclusion Task Force organised a webinar on ‘Inclusive technologies for a post COVID world on the 21st of May to mark the Global Accessibility Awareness Day. Task Force members Nipun Malhotra- CEO Nipman Foundation, Apoorv Kulkarni- Associate Director Ola Mobility Institute were amongst the speakers along with Shadi Abou-Zahra- Accessibility Strategy and Technology Specialist, W3C, Vienna, Krishna Kumari- Special Educator, Rehabilitation Professional and Project Associate, TARA, Vidyasagar and Vikas Prasad- Director- Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India . founder and executive director Nidhi Goyal also the diversity and inclusion task force member was the lead conceptualiser and facilitator of the webinar.
The webinar aimed to strengthen the conversation around digital accessibility and technological inclusion for people with all disabilities through the insights of specialists, industry and policy experts, and government authorities. The webinar also especially foregrounded the future of digital access in the post COVID crisis world with important discussions around accessibility and social distancing and the importance of accessible formats/ technologies and important guidelines issued by the ministry. The discussion ended with concrete suggestions around best practices for universal digital access.
