Bridging the gap: Understanding Disability

Our Founder and Executive Director, Nidhi Goyal, delivered an engaging and thought-provoking sensitisation session, ‘Bridging the Gap: Understanding Disability’ at the Samarth India Conclave and Expo, organised by Times Network and Hyundai India on November 17, 2025 in New Delhi. The Conclave brought together 550 attendees, including Union Ministers, policymakers, technologists, innovators, advocates, and experts to discuss the crucial role of assistive technology and accessible infrastructure in enabling persons with disabilities to achieve their full potential.

Samarth is an initiative working to build a more accessible and inclusive India: one where disability is not seen as limitation but as part of the human experience, with a focus on innovation, partnerships, and storytelling. In her session, Nidhi challenged long-held assumptions around disability and inclusion through humour and real lived experiences. She spoke about how accessibility is not an act of charity but a fundamental right and necessity, saying, “Accessibility is dignity. Accessibility is opportunity. Accessibility is India’s future.” She also highlighted the critical role of assistive technologies in enabling independence and participation, reminding the audience that technology is meaningful only when it reaches those who need it.
