Our Founder and Executive Director, Nidhi Goyal, was invited to speak at the inaugural session of Sense International India’s Annual Udaan Intern Meet, held on 8 June 2026 at the National Association for the Blind (NAB), Dwarka Campus, Delhi. The event brought together 25 young participants, persons with deafblindness from different parts of India, who are emerging as leaders and advocates within their communities.
She was joined by fellow speakers Prashant Ranjan Verma, General Secretary, NAB Delhi; Ashleigh Mears, Communications Officer, Sense International UK; Stella Elgood Field, Programme Officer, Sense International UK; and Veena Verma, Director, NAB Dwarka Campus.
Drawing on Rising Flame’s work with youth and women with disabilities, such as our Life Skills Education programme and I Can Lead, among others, Nidhi spoke about the importance of investing in leadership development from an early age. She highlighted how access to mentorship, information, financial support, and opportunities for participation can strengthen confidence among young persons with disabilities. Meaningful leadership is built when youth with disabilities are encouraged not only to get opportunities, but also to influence conversations, make informed choices, and contribute to change within their communities.
The session provided an opportunity for participants to learn about pathways for leadership development and participation in social change efforts.
