Seeing Strengths, Creating Possibilities

Seeing Strengths, Creating Possibilities

Our Founder and Executive Director, Nidhi Goyal, was invited to speak at Ummeed’s School Inclusion Summit 2026, a three-day hybrid event bringing together 212 educators, caregivers, practitioners, and disability rights advocates from across the country. On June 4, 2026, she joined fellow panelists Anjali Parsekar, Vinita Gaitonde, and Dr. Koyeli Sengupta for the online session, “Seeing Strengths, Creating Possibilities.”

Nidhi highlighted the importance of moving away from ableist assumptions that often shape diagnostic, therapeutic, and caregiving spaces. She emphasised that children with disabilities possess a wealth of strengths, but these can only emerge when they are provided with safe, non-judgmental, and enabling environments. Drawing from both her personal journey and Rising Flame’s work, she spoke about how encouraging curiosity, self-expression, decision-making, and the ability to seek support helps children build confidence and independence.

Nidhi also underscored the need to shift the focus from what children with disabilities cannot do to what becomes possible when families, educators, and institutions invest in their potential. The session offered valuable insights into building strength-based, inclusive ecosystems where every child has the opportunity to thrive.
